DocMaker Studio started with a PDF that would not behave. Combining a few photos, a scan and a web page into one document you could sign should have taken a minute, and instead it took an afternoon of converters and upload forms. So it got built properly, once, as MyDocMaker — and every app since has come from the same place: something ordinary that was more annoying than it needed to be.

What it is now

2 apps out in the world, 9 more sketched. One person designs, builds and supports all of it, which sets a hard limit on how complicated anything is allowed to get. That limit is the point, not a compromise — an app small enough for one person to keep good is an app that stays good.

How it makes money

MyDocMaker is free for personal use and licensed for commercial use. DocMaker Calendar is free while it is in early access. There is no advertising, nothing is sold on, and no app is funded by what it knows about you. When something has to cost money, the price is written on the page.

What it does with your data

MyDocMaker never uploads your files — it builds your PDF on your own machine. The web apps store the least they can get away with, and they are explicit about who can see what: the calendar, for instance, masks other people’s private events on the server, so the details are never sent to a browser that is not entitled to them. The privacy page spells the rest out.

Who runs it

DocMaker Studio is a trading name of Hay & Wilson LLC. Support, licensing, bug reports and ideas all arrive at the same inbox, and they are answered by the person who wrote the code.
